Scott 135 renovations

We have completed the renovations for Scott 135. New equipment has been installed is one of our redesigned podiums. The podium is similar to the ones used in the Loree lecture halls, Hill 116 and Engineering B120. It is a one-piece desk design with a sliding door for the document camera. All of the equipment functionality is still the same; however, the following innovations have been incorporated:

  • There are now two data projectors installed, which allow for greater flexibility of presentation material. Instructors will be able to project their media on either one or both screens; or, simultaneously project 2 different media sources on separate screens. For example, you can now project PowerPoint from your laptop on one screen, and use the document camera or play a video on the other. The dual screen design will also better enable use of the chalk board while projecting on one screen.
  • The system has an upgraded digital document camera that will capture and project a better, brighter and more detailed image.
  • A digital audio device will be installed that will enable instructors to optionally record lectures as "podcasts" for automatic distribution to your students. For more information, go to http://cat.rutgers.edu/faculty/podcasting/.

The system is very intuitive and simple to operate. We will provide additional assistance during this week and will offer an orientation session on Wednesday, 3/22, at 9:30 AM for those who would like to have more in depth training. To register, please use our online registration system http://cat.rutgers.edu/workshops/quickreg.html.

Photos and additional information are available on our website.

Plans are underway to upgrade Scott 123 in a similar fashion during the summer session.

Scott 135 planned upgrades

In our continuing efforts to upgrade and improve the classroom equipment, we are installing a new podium and equipment in Scott 135. The work will be completed during Spring Break, March 13 – 16, 2006. Plans are underway to upgrade Scott 123 in a similar fashion during the summer session.

The new equipment will be housed in one of our redesigned podiums. These podiums are similar to the ones used in the Loree lecture halls, Hill 116 and Engineering B120. They incorporate a one-piece desk design with a sliding door for the document camera.

Scott 135 will also have the following innovations:

  • There will be two data projectors installed, which will allow for greater flexibility. Instructors will be able to simultaneously project 2 different media sources on separate screens. For example, you would be able to project PowerPoint from your laptop on one screen, and use the document camera or play a video on the other. The dual screen design will also better enable you to use the chalk board while projecting on one screen.
  • The system will have an upgraded digital document camera that will capture and project a better, more detailed image.
  • A digital audio device will be installed that will enable instructors to optionally record lectures as "podcasts" for automatic distribution to your students. For more information, go to http://cat.rutgers.edu/faculty/podcasting/.

The system will be simple to operate, and we will offer orientation sessions on Friday, 3/17 at 2:00 – 4:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, 3/22, at 9:30 AM for those who would like to have more in depth training. To register, please use our online registration system http://cat.rutgers.edu/workshops/quickreg.html.

Photos and additional information will be available on our website once the renovations are complete.
